Tia's First Plane Ride -- Honolulu to Maui Saturday...We’re going to Maui today! After we drove to the airport and parked the car, Mommy and Daddy pushed me in my stroller through the terminal. Right before we reached our check-in counter, we met Auntie Pat and Uncle John Balmores – they were going for a nice early-morning walk. What a nice surprise to have them send us off to Maui! When we got to the gate, Mommy and Daddy let me sit in my own big-people’s chair while we waited to board. Then we got in our seats on the plane. I sat on Mommy’s lap. Mommy tried to get me to look out the window when we took off, but I was more interested in playing with the magazines and safety cards that were sitting in the pocket in front of us.
When we arrived in Maui, we picked up our rental car and drove to our motel – the Gardens at Maui West in Kahana. I really liked this place – I enjoyed exploring all the rooms. After Mommy and Daddy unpacked, we got back in the car and drove to Lahaina. We took a nice stroll through the old town and watched some people build canoes in the Big Banyon Tree Park. Then we went back to the motel for a little while. Daddy took me for a walk to the resort across the street. We saw lots of nice bungalos and gardens, and a nice swimming pool and beach, but the thing that excited me most was a big yellow fire hydrant. After we got back to our motel, Daddy and I picked up Mommy and drove back to Lahaina. Mommy and I bought sandals at the Lahaina Cannery Shopping Center. Then we stopped at the Kahana Shopping Plaza and bought groceries at a market and dinner at Ribs-n-Rotisserie. When we got back to the motel, I resumed my exploration. I’m getting sleepy now, though, so I think I’ll fall asleep here on the living room floor next to Mommy and Daddy. Goodnight, everybody…
