We celebrated Lunar New Year at Halmoni (Gramma)'s and Haraboji (Grampa)'s apartment. I just worship Cousin Jung-Wa. That's "Grape," my self-named newest favorite stuffed animal, in my lap ... TiaI had a nice day in school today. I was so excited all day, though -- we're going to spend the night at Halmoni's house! After Mommy picked me up in the afternoon, we picked Daddy up at work and then drove home. Mommy got me all dressed up in my hanbok (traditional Korean dress), and then Mommy and Daddy and I caught a taxi for Halmoni's and Haraboji's apartment. They live in another part of Seoul across the Han River. Everybody was waiting for us when we got there -- Halmoni, Haraboji, Cousin Arumi, Cousin Jung-Wa, Waesamchon (Mommy's brother and Jung-Wa's Daddy; literally, "Mother's older brother"), and Auntie (Jung-Wa's Mommy). It was great to see everybody -- they just smothered me in love and attention. Mommy and Daddy helped me bow to Haraboji and Waesamchon, and then we all had a big dinner together. I spent the rest of the evening playing with Cousin Arumi and Cousin Jung-Wa. They took me to the store, too, to get some ice cream. Later in the evening, Waesamchon, Auntie, and Cousin Jung-Wa left to go home. I was sad. Another Auntie, Imo (Auntie; literally, "Mother's older sister"), came later, after I fell asleep. I didn't get to see her this visit, though, because she had to go back to work again before I woke up the next morning. Sweet dreams, everybody ... Love, Tia Updated Thursday, August 31, 2006. | |
