Jim and Kay on their wedding day, October 13, 1991. Jim and Kay met on Friday, May 25th, 1990, in Seoul, South Korea. Jim was a Tech Sergeant (E6) in the Air Force at the time, stationed at Osan Air Base (about 30 miles south of Seoul). He and some friends of his hopped on a bus after they got off work that day to do some weekend sightseeing in Seoul. When they arrived in Seoul, their first stop was the bus ticket counter to buy their return tickets to Osan. Jim was immediately smitten by the attractive young woman (Kay) who sold him his ticket. When he returned to Seoul the next weekend, he somehow got up enough courage to ask her for a date, and, remarkably, she accepted. The rest is our history... In the summer of 1990, Jim moved with his unit from Osan Air Base to Camp Humphreys, about five miles to the south. Jim and Kay kept dating and were married on October 13th, 1991. They honeymooned in Seoul and then moved into a small apartment in Anjong Ri, right outside Camp Humphreys. In early 1993, Jim was re-assigned to Yongsan Army Garrison in Seoul, and the Hancys moved to the big city. They spent a wonderful two years soaking up the sights and sounds of Kay's hometown, visiting Kay's relatives and old friends, and making new friends. In the summer of 1995, though, the Hancys had to leave Korea when Jim was re-assigned to Wheeler Army Air Field. They arrived in Hawaii on July 31st, 1995, and, after a second honeymoon in Waikiki, moved into a house on Hickam Air Force Base. Less than a year later, in May, 1996, they moved into a condo at Country Club Village in the Moanalua section of Honolulu. Jim and Kay were blessed with a beautiful baby daughter, Tia, on June 3rd, 2000, and continued to spend the next three years living happily under the blue skies, green palm trees, and bright sunshine of Hawaii. In the spring of 2003, Jim accepted a new job in Korea so that he, Kay, and Tia could be near Kay's family. On June 10th, 2003, the Hancys boarded a plane in Honolulu and on June 11th arrived in Seoul. Nowadays, Jim's working as an information technology (IT) project manager for the U.S. Army. Kay's taking care of Jim and Tia. Tia's working hard and enjoying 4th grade under a nurturing blanket of love provided by Omma (Mommy), Appa (Daddy), Halmoni (Gramma), her aunties, uncles, cousins, teachers, and friends.
