James Matthew Hancy

Hello everybody!  I was born August 13th, 1952, in Los Angeles, California, and raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio (Brooklyn, Berea, Parma Heights, and Brookpark).  I graduated from Berea High School in 1970 and soon set off to explore the world.  Before landing here in Seoul, Korea (for a second time), I also lived in:

I retired from the U.S. Air Force on November 30th, 1998, as a Master Sergeant (E7) after 24 years of service. I started work the next day, December 1st, 1998, for Wang Global (which has since gone through several name changes, including Getronics, DigitalNet, and now BAE Systems), in Honolulu, first as a Telecommunications Engineer and then as a Database Administrator.

On January 13th, 1999, I graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies.

On June 16th, 2003, I began a new adventure as a Network Engineer for Information Systems Support on Yongsan Army Garrison in Seoul, Korea. Almost exactly a year later, on June 27th, 2004, I began work as an Information Technology Specialist with the U.S. Army. This job switch did not require a change in location, other than to a different room in the same building at Yongsan.

In 2005, I went back to school again to get a Master of Science Degree in International Relations from Troy University. In February 2008, I finished up my classroom work; in July 2008, I passed the comprehensive exam; and in May 2009, we celebrated at my graduation ceremony.

These days, when I'm not working, or helping Tia with her homework, or studying for IT certification tests, I'm learning Taekwondo, updating this website, and spending as much time as possible with Kay, Tia, family, and friends.
