 | 2004 | |
2004 was an adventure-filled year for Omma (Mommy), Appa (Daddy), and me. Omma went back to school, Appa changed jobs, I turned four years old, and we all took a nice summer vacation in Europe and moved into a new apartment. The first four and a half months of the year were pretty routine for the most part. I played with Omma and Appa and my friends and attended Yongsan Child Development Center (Preschool) five days a week. Omma divided her time between taking care of Appa and me and meeting with her friends. Appa worked as a network engineer for Information Systems Support. We had lots of visits with Halmoni (Gramma) and Haraboji (Grampa) and the rest of Omma’s family, too – sometimes we visited them, and sometimes they visited us. We spent the last week of May and the first week of June on a fun-filled European package-tour vacation. After flying from Seoul to Frankfurt, we took bus and train trips to Rothenburg, Fussen, Innsbruck, Venice, Florence, Rome, Pisa, Milan, Interlaken, Jungfrau, Paris, and London. I spent my birthday (June 3rd) in Rome! As soon as we flew back home, Daddy changed jobs. He still works in the same building on Yongsan with many of the same people he worked with before, but now he’s an information technology specialist with the Army. He likes his new job very much. The same day Daddy changed jobs, we changed apartments, too – from the Dongbu Centreville Apartments to the LG Hangang Jai Apartments. This apartment is a little bigger than our old one, so Omma really likes it. I really like it, too – there are lots of playgrounds outside, and we’re very close to the Han River Park. After we got settled into our new abode, Omma started her college education. She took Algebra I and Algebra II with the University of Maryland on Yongsan Army Garrison and got A’s in both. Appa and I are so proud of her! I had a lot of fun in school this year playing with my best friends Veronica, Charlotte, Hannah, and Josie. My teachers, Ms. Kimberly, Mr. Alex, Mr. Daniel, Ms. Su, and Ms. So took excellent care of me. I spent much of my time at home reading books, singing songs, building puzzles, and playing with my dolls, stuffed animals, and toys. I also played with Omma and Appa on the playgrounds and at the River Park – we went there quite often to ride my bike, fly kites, and have picnics. I’m in my “Princess” phase right now. I have Disney Princess clothes, dolls, toys, books, movies, and a princess bicycle. My favorite princesses are Jasmine, Pocahontas, Belle, Ariel, Melody, Mulan, Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Tinker Bell, etc. I also enjoy reading and watching Dora the Explorer, The Wiggles, 101 Dalmations, Lady and the Tramp, Oliver and Company, Lion King, Dumbo, Bambi, Toy Story 2, Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, Sound of Music, Winnie the Pooh, Green Eggs and Ham, etc. We’re looking forward to what we hope will be a very nice year in 2005…Love, Tia
